Throughout the contract signing, the phrase “comment section” repeatedly appears in the arguments. The women refer to previous online exchanges and question whether certain individuals are prepared to stand behind what they have said. The conflict is therefore not simply a disagreement that develops spontaneously at the table. At least some of the tension has a history that viewers are expected to recognise through the participants’ references to earlier interactions.
I think this is one of the most important details in the opening part of the episode because it explains why the atmosphere becomes heated so quickly. When people arrive with unresolved online disputes, they may already have formed strong opinions about one another before they have a proper face to face conversation. Every new comment can then be interpreted through the history of the disagreement. The danger is that people stop listening to what is being said in the present because they are still reacting to something that happened earlier. For the women to move forward, they would need to address the original issues clearly rather than repeatedly using past exchanges as fuel for new arguments.
