Ja Divas – Episode 1. Part 1. – The Brunch – “Jenny Knows That Being a Whole Vibe Does Not Mean Everyone Will Like Her”

Jenny introduces herself as a 21 year old from Kingston and describes herself as a whole vibe, while acknowledging that she is not everybody’s cup of tea. It is a short introduction, but it communicates something important about how she sees herself. She seems comfortable with the idea that people will have different opinions about her rather than suggesting that she needs universal approval.

I find that attitude interesting because a group setting like this can easily turn into a competition for acceptance. When several outspoken personalities are gathered together, not everyone will appreciate the same sense of humour, style, or approach to confrontation. Jenny’s introduction suggests that she is prepared to be herself even if some people do not connect with her. The real test will be whether she can maintain that confidence when disagreements become personal and the opinions of the other women are expressed directly rather than through an introduction.
